Painting the Expy again!

Hood is bubbling, in a few spots the paint has flaked off. Again.

Service writer already took pictures and got the repairs authorized with Ford. Have to see what my work schedule is and then take it in for a 4th painting. Joy. Also need to pre-call Ford and make sure they give me a big enough rental this time.

Wow...fourth time!!! Perhaps you will have any luck getting a competent shop this time?

No, it has to do with incompetent/knowledgeable body shop employees. If done correctly you won't have adhesion issues. I feel for you man.

She goes under the knife on Monday. They're also fixing the tint they scratched 2 days ago while fixing the rear pass windows

I must say, Cutter Ford is really doing a good job so far. We had a few bumps, but overall much better than previous Dealerships.

just the hood. the other stuff painted in 2009 looks like crap, but it's not corroding out like the hood. So I have to wait until then, or fix it myself

Is there any way Ford can do that with my trunk under a warranty? First time I asked I got the answer it's a 2007 and got 65000 miles and a dumb look...

read your warranty card. the hood and trunk are made of aluminum. known corrosion problems.

Ford has a pretty long warranty term for corrosion. i just can't remember what it is. If your mileage/age falls under it, just visit the Dealership and point that out. I've already had my rear hatch fixed once for this

Expy has been at Ford since Monday. Waiting to see if I'll have it back today or not.

The corrosion warranty is BS. It calls for complete rust through. That is very severe and even without paint or primer wouldn't happen within the time they list. The problem with the trunk and hood is Ford does not know how to properly prep the metal and that is why you get the bubbles and paint failure.

It came back worse than I dropped off. They didn't fix corrosion...just sanded and sprayed paint over top. Then they burned through paint BADLY in several places. It's noticeable from 5+ feet away

2nd Dealership, 3rd shop painting. Exact same problem as in 2009

Topper is they drove it ~16 miles, burned a 1/4 tank of gas, and for some reason rifled through entire vehicle. I've found stuff out of place and buttons, settings changed on everything

Pics to come shortly

Edit: oh yeah, and crackheads scratched hell out of Passenger quarterpanel

Started raising hell with Dealership. No Managers at work. Told nice lady they had 30 minutes to find one or they could explain to owner why I filed a BBB Complaint

Strangely enough, a Manager was found. Had no explanation for the problems. Wants me to bring it back in Tuesday.

5th time for paint upcoming. Anybody care to place bets on a 6th or 7th attempt? I can't file a complaint with Ford as it's past their working hours. I'm going to make a complaint Monday

I don't know how thick it is. Doesn't look bad yet. Just realized my iPhone pics don't really show the paint flaws. I'll try to get a decent picture with my SLR that shows the bare aluminum in those 2 spots
