running boards for 1950-F2
I am working on a 1590 F2 to restore ( it is all there) 239 flat head, and the running boards are rusted thru where the brace is welded underneath. The rest is Ok and is still bolted to the fenders.
I understand that the Long Bed running boards are non existing??
What can I do to "fix" what I have??
Do not have pics yet but will try to post later.
Ideas welcome.
I'm in west central IL.

Hey welcome to the forum! I live in Pekin,IL close to Peoria.
I am working on a '49 F3, our running boards sound the same as a lot of them are rusted there. I got a couple pieces of other running boards and am planning to carefully cut out the rusted area and stitch weld good used pieces back in. I haven't done it yet though. I think it's gonna be a little tedious, but no hill for a climber.
What town do you live near? Nice to have another, somewhat, local guy!

Welcome to FTE,
yes you will have to either fix what you have, build your own, or buy some good used ones.
btw check the classifieds section here for 48-60 trucks, I know someone who has a really nice set listed in there. not perfect but no rust out.

Actually looks like there may be a couple sets listed in there!

thats MY plan! I hope it works out, I think it might be tough trying to get everything to line up just right and weld. but it's not gonna get any better without trying!
