looks like a TFI on a distributor to me...glad they finally moved it to the fender wall because it is a lousy idea on the distributor. With Ford, I've learned to believe my eyes rather than the book (Book is a great guide but it's about as accuarate as the BIble) (Just my opionion,we welcome yours)!

Nope, 1992 F350 7.5 4wd regular cab XLTwith 1/92 manufactire date (Canada Ford though)!(Believe your eyes not the book!) You don't give up or learn too easy do you?
I rebuilt this about 2 years ago and it does have the F3te HEADS (i KNOW IT'S A 1992 BUT STILL HAD THEM WHEN i GOT THE TRUCK 10 YEARS AGO)> Ford does strange things and this is just one more example/ I also hasve a 1990 F450 Canadian that has the earlier type fuel system on it (2 lows in tanlks and one high pressure on the rail) on a 7.5 2wd plain cab.

lisagoud,
You have a 89 or earlier truck. 1989 was the last F-series truck that had that fuel system.
You have put together truck by somebody.
Please quit putting out bad information as some new members may believe you.
If you have any questions about this era truck I would be glad to answer them if you would start your own Thread.
Other than that I will not respond anymore in this Thread except to the OP if he has anymore questions. We need to stay on the subject.

Hi there. I know this is an old thread but I just wanted to bring it back up to thank you all for the spot-on advice. Thanks especially to subford for sharing the simple testing procedure. I followed the steps and found the problem.
The PCM in my 1994 F20 460 was fried. It had gotten wet as evidence by the rust on the can and any doubts I had as to its state were gone as soon as I pulled it out and smelled the thing. There is no doubt it got warm.
I could not find a new or reman PCM available at any of the local stores and the only option they offered was sending my unit in and waiting for it to be rebuilt and returned. I discovered that the PCM in the 1994-95 models is unique to those years and they are, as stated earlier in this thread, hard to find. I checked the local junkyard and they had a unit out of a 1996 model. Their research suggested it might work so they sent me home with it to try. I plugged it in and the old Ford fired right up.
There seems to be some difference with the replacement unit. I noticed it takes longer to start than before, requiring a good ten seconds of cranking before it fires. And I swear that the low end power and torque is increased. The replacement PCM has a black plastic box attached to the back of the can (sorry, I didn't think to get a picture) where the large square knock out plug is on the old unit.
At any rate, it runs fine and the battery is good so the extra few seconds of cranking is no problem.
Thank you all again for the help. I Googled my truck model, year, and the problem and this thread was the first hit.
