I need to replace the king pin and bushings on a 1964 Econoline Pickup and am have trouble removing the locking pins. The manual states that the pin just needs to be drived out, but mine will not budge. Any tips for removing the pin would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Gorge - that is the problem the 64' does not seem to have a bolt, just a pin. Since I need to clean up the axle, I will just remove it and have the pin pressed out at the shop.
Just checked some pics. The pin is tapered so will only go out one way. Your 64 has the threaded top where the grease fitting goes. You have to be careful driving the pins out or the threads in the spindle can be damaged. Don't ask how I know.
