Electric water pump for a Flathead V8 - Done it?

Gents,

I quick question, has anyone here done an electric waterpump conversion on a flatty V8?

Sourcing waterpumps here in Australia is a bit of a pain (read: expensive), I was thinking of converting my 41' Flatty over to electric but was wondering if anyone has already done it...

Given that the water pumps are also the front engine mounts I can't just make up some block off plates with water necks on them, so I was going to gut the pumps and remove the pullies, weld up the shaft holes and set up a single electric water pump with a pair of fabricated Y adaptors so as to flow from both pump sides and feed both tanks on the radiator.

I have given consideration to the fact that the generator belt will foul the distributor without the pump pullies, I can fix that by bottom mounting an alternator so I'm not concerned there. Going to use a 50amp alternator froma Daihatsu as they are tiny and of course I have a 'spare parts' Feroza in my yard as my wee Feroza gets some decent punishment off road and breaks stuff

Is my approach workable? Has anyone done this?

Oh, and does anyone know just how much flow both pumps generate?

Cheers,

Strewth
