Well got tired of driving around without a headliner. So I went to home depot and bought a 1/8" sheet of hardboard. Cost $8.00. I just used my old crusty headliner for a pattern.
Traced it with a sharpie and cut it out with a jigsaw with a metal blade.
The metal blade is important it has smaller teeth and won't shred the hardboard.
Next I went to Joann's fabric and bought one yard of black marine grade vinyl. Cost $14.99 a yard. 1 yard is just enough to cover it width wise as long as it's a 54" width.
I wiped down the boards smooth side and laid the vinyl upside down sprayed both sides with headliner spray $19.99 a can. Let it sit for a min put the board flat side on top of the vinyl and laid the board down. Patted the back of the board to make sure it stuck.
Flipped the whole thing over then went over it with a rolling pin. After letting it sit for about 1/2 hour I trimmed the excess vinyl off with a razor blade.
After that I installed her. I still have to buy new screws but she's up and looks damn good for $42.98. I also think it looks way better then the factory style repop ones that are $90.00 plus $60.00 to ship.

 

Congrats, that headliner looks very nice and you can´t beat that price, but is easier when you have regular cab, with Supercabs there´s no other way than going to the junkyards because of the size

 

I disagree. The hard board is 4' x 8' and the vinyl is 54" wide x 10'. I think you could make that work as long as you have an old headliner to use as a pattern.

 

Looks good but I'm just wondering how it added up to $42.98 when you said the hardboard was $8.00 and the fabric was $15.00?
Was the adhesive that expensive?

Evam350, He stated the spray was $19.99, so that with $14.99 for the fabric and $8.00 for the hardboard comes to $42.98 with no sales tax.

What ever he used is better than a can of wally world 3M stuff......do not waste your money. If it sticks, its worth the almost 20 he spent.

This is what I used. They sell it at joanns too. It sprays just like the industrial adhesive my dad used to use at his shop. Like snot in a can. It sticks pretty damn good.

Thot I'd add my $0.02 is any of yall wanna add a custom touch. Buy 1/4-inch thick high density foam and lightly attach it with 3M Spray Mount (it's a light duty contact cement). Spray only one side!!!

Now sketch out or transfer your pattern (flames, diamonds, Ford logo, "FTE" or whatever you want) to the foam and cut out the low spots with a razor blade. Angle/bevel your cuts down to the hardboard because vinyl does not like to turn 90 degrees. Trace the silhouette of the piece on the board and remove the foam and reattach permanently. I work on only half of it at one time so it is easier to re-register on the tracing.

Apply contact cement like co425 and roll on the vinyl slowly while pressing it into the low spots ("reliefs"). Reinstall.

 

how much more dificult could that be for a supercab...? my only problem is i dont have a old one to trace
