PRNDL pointer adjustment or repair

This is on my F-650 but is the same for all of the column shift vehicles that I know of.

Here is the adjustment wheel for the PRNDL indicator pointer.
It is located directly under the column.

The white bracket can break and the pointer will not align with the letters on the dash.
With the vehicle not running shift the column lever to L(Low).
Now you can disconnect the thin (red) cable (that moves the pointer) end loop, from the lever.
Then dismount the bracket from the column.
The bracket can be removed by rotating the wheel until the cable tube is free of the wheel.
Slide the cable out of the bracket and wheel.
Replace or repair the bracket.
Reinstall the bracket and cable.
Turn the wheel until the pointer is aligned with the appropriate letter to match the shift levers position.
Note; the least tension is on the cable when the shifter is in Low.
I then used a couple of zip ties to cinch up the bracket.

Thank you for the post. How much of the dash does one have to remove the replace the assembly?
