I drive by a pecan orchard everyday but dont see any activity or obvious nests yet. Does anybody have any squirrel hunting reports for OK? This cooler weather has me thinking about getting my little 22 rifle out for some small game huntin?
they are in hiockry nut trees in midtown tulsa where I was working today. I dont know if we are going to have much of a nut crop this year since it was so dry and hot, I have seen no acorns on any of the trees around here I'm shure the same for the pecans.
I finally got a chance to check out the pecan orchard this morning. Spotted six squirrels; 2 gray, 4 red. Only got two shots off---missed both. Those little buggers are fast. I'm tempted to put a scope on my little 22 rifle. Tho not sure it would help?
It would have been easier to find them if the wind wasnt blowing the loud dried leaves out of the trees all morning.
You'll find a lot more squirrels by looking on the highway, rather than in the trees. Seems like most every other car on the road these days is piloted by a squirrel.......
Too bad we can't legally hunt that kind. I'd be first in line for a license, if we could.......
