GMC Claims the Strongest Truck – How Will Ford Respond?
Check out today's homepage article about the latest announcement from GM. How do you think Ford should respond to the competition?

A 200 pound difference is marginal, but lots of people look at number on paper. First of all, it is time for a FULL REDESIGN of the Super Duty. Something completely different than what Ford has been using since 1999. Until that major redesign, just add another spring in the rear. Ford will do something to top GM in the numbers game.

By a new v10 based off the 6.2. 7.75-8.75L range ~525hp and 550tq
And being that the 6.2 does about the same or a bit better mpg than a 5.4 the 6.2 based v10 should be comoareable to the triton v10 mileage.
Imagine the towing ability.
Or a 3.5 eco x2 make a 7liter v12. But the ecoboost doesnt really seem to get that great of mileage even in the lighter 150. I definently wouldnt take one over a 6.2 or 5.4 for that matter. 5-10 years from now i doubt you would r

Ford doesn't have to respond. Just this week...GM was trying to get out of having to pay for recall repairs on vehicles made just prior to their bankruptcy filing (2008). There aren't too many people that are impressed with GM these days. That would be why they have to pretty much give away their trucks at the moment (a comparable 1500 is $3k+ less than an F-150 through USAA's buying service).

I just came back from a weekend camping trip about 2 1/2 hrs from our house. The road is a rural (very rural!) two lane highway with lots of pickups and damn few cars. Nearly every truck I saw was a Ford and that type of loyalty isn't easily swayed to buy a Chevy as their next truck. Ford has a zillion years experience building the best trucks and people seem to understand that. I know GM and Dodge build good trucks but when I needed a truck and I wanted towing ability, comfort, reliability and good looks, there was only one choice, and that was an F250. It didn't hurt that my tax dollars didn't have to pay for their mistakes, and the extreme unreliability of last truck I owned sealed the deal. Yeah, it was a Chevy. Hope they spent the money wisely, cause it's the last time GM will ever see a nickel from me as long as I live.

6.2 based v10, but dohc, with ti-vct, and direct injection. 40 independent valves of goodness...
But that would mean there's no point for the oil burners.

I'm not solely a numbers guy, especially when listening to advertising claims----horsepower numbers have always been a part of cars and trucks trying to lure peole into show rooms. What I most enjoy today is a re-emerging fight of sorts brewing between Ford and GM though---its like the good old days of the 60's and 70's when EVERYTHING had to have at least 400hp or it just wouldn't sell! Well not really but when Nationwide Insurance was the first to put a 50% premium increase on the so called muscle cars of the time even the 454 Chevy's, 460 Ford's and 440 Plymouth/Dodge's days were numbered.
Chrysler or whoever they are today figured into those "car wars" but with Toyota trying to be the next big American marque can they be far behind? Already having designed an OHV V-8 mostly to compete in NASCAR they're shown quite a bit of their own muscle in engineering and ability to crank out some impressive numbers. They're not doing too bad on race day either!
I say let 'em all claim to squirt the biggest stream but second place is just first loser!!

Ford is a good truck but the chevy and dodge are too. Most of them and if not all of them are built in the USA.So everyone quit bashing on them if they are not a FORD.I know this is a FORD forum but i come on here just to check stuff out and i had a 05 f250 that was a real peice of junk but i don't go on the other forums and say bad things about it.So if u guys think FORD is everything you have another thing coming i have a chevy and a dodge and they are as nice as any ford. But i will also take a new ford too i like them also. The way i look at it as long as it is american made i will take any of the 3.

My 97 chevy z71 is the last chevy I will own. I sold it with 104,000 miles, went through 3 transmissions, rear end, intake manifold gasket, water pump, power steering pump, cataleptic converters, computer, numerous seals, and I can't remember what all else. Soon after it took another transmission, complete break overhaul and rear end. All I hauled was a 12 foot trailer with two atv's. I got 37,000 on my 08 F150 and couldn't be happier!

Halarious!
Everyone knows the chevs are turds. Look at the commercials they're making. I posted a thread about one I saw over the weekend that degraded thier own trucks. I always know when there's a GM vehicle around cause I can smell the good ole oil and coolant burning smell. Their trucks dont even look finished off the line, like some of the body guys just walked off before completion. If the difference is a couple hundred pounds, who cares IMO. The lack of repair bills should more than even things out. Same goes for you "Nopar" . Both manufacterers need to step thier game up. Those Dodge towing mirrors are the ugliest thing I've seen on a truck. They look cheap.

"but for the time being General Motors has the claim of the most powerful non-commercial truck on the market"... so tell me how they make this claim? Ford has more HP and torque. I don't care if the Got a Mechanic Coming (GMC) could tow 1000 lbs more... I would never own a gm (God's mistake) product. The quality isn't as good as Ford, no matter what beer guy says.
