i am planning on doing a v-8 swap on my f100 but i dont like the sound of the 302 (like just another mustang on the road :S). i like the numbers, and the reliability of the 351w. how much does the sound of the 351 differ from the 302. youtube has been no help to me.

the 302 & 351 are both small blocks, as with all Fords (as with GM, Chrysler, etc.) the head design is mfg similar style/concept which will create the same sound

They aren't "small blocks", that's chevy talk, lol... They're from the same family, both are "Windsors", and yes, the sound of both is very similar, but the sound can vary a lot depending on the exhaust configuration.

If you go back to the specifications on these engines in the 70's, they are classified by Ford as "small blocks" (and have been since the late 50's when the 221 & 260 V8's hit the production line and the FE's were on the design sheets)......The FE series was the "Big Blocks". There were also many discussions that the 351's were BB's (when they were not), many publications such as HotRod, etc, interviewed/wrote articles on the subject...especially the 400 cid's....they too were SB's as well.
