87 bronco ll how do you check to see if your ECC is workig I Have no spark coming from the coil it will not fire at all I have changed the coil and still nothing no fire What can I do. please let me know thanks

 

The EEC does not fire the coil. There is a module bolted to the distributor that fires the coil. It is called the TFI module, and is known to fail. Try replacing it.

Have you checked all fuses and fusible links?

 

I changed the TFI module and still no spark from coil srarted tracing wirers and found that the fuel relay has power going in and no power going out of it used a jumper wire to go from the hot yeloow wire to the red wire and it started with it running I ran a scaner on it and got some codes 14, 18, 23 and 63 can you tell what these mean thank you

 

14: Two or more successive erratic Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) pulses occurred, resulting in a possible engine miss or stall.

18: SPOUT circuit open or spark angle word failure.

23: Closed throttle TPS voltage higher or lower than expected.

63: TPS circuit below minimum 0.6 volts.

14 and 18 may be related to you changing out the TFI module. 23 and 63 may be caused by someone touching the throttle pedal during the test, or a disconnected TPS.

Disconnect the battery for around 5-10 minutes and start it back up and see what codes you get. Make sure you let it warm up fully before the test.

I Wanted to thank for your input on my 87 Bronco II We checked every thing that you said to check found some ground wires broken and found that we had two bad relays and now it runs for about 15 min. and stoped still had spark but no gas. Come to find out the the gas shut off that is located on fire wall of passengers side was bad. now it runs great ran the codes and came up no prblemit good.
