1st Oil Change 5.0
I have 2011 SCrew XLT 2WD with 5.0.....love the truck-----I am approaching 6200 miles with 41% remaining on the info service reminder.......would appreciate input on whether I should/should not go ahead and change oil now. My driving is mixed city and interstate. Truck has used no oil do date.........just a great driving vehicle.

When I bought my '11, I also bought a 100,000 mile warranty and service package (I wanted the warranty being it was the first model year of the engine and the dealer through in the service package). The dealer also through in the first oil change for free and wanted me to come in around 2,000 to 2,500 miles. The service package included oil changes every 5,000 miles.
I've had two oil changes now and I've watched both. One piece of advice if you're going to do it yourself, the way they've set up the oil filter you need a big oil pan or two smaller ones. When you pull the filter, oil goes off both sides of the cross member.

That puts you at about 8600 miles!! That sounds like a good number to me!!! Honestly the oil life system works pretty well in these trucks and with the new GF5 oil its a hard combo to beat! If you are really curious do a UOA but I bet it comes back stellar!!!! Save your money and change it when it really needs it.

I just did my first oil change @3400 miles. I wanted to do it at 3,000 but I was out of town.
Oil changes was "OK". Dang air damn in front makes it too hard to slide under from the nose (unless you're a skinny guy). I'll drive it up on some boards next time. As for the oil filter.... Ugh, it kind of sucks. The "drain" pain under it does have two spouts, I found that with only a slight angle most will come out the rear, but some did come out the front. My real bitch is trying to clean out this drain pan. I know I'm probably dripping a few drops on my drive way as I type this....
