2006 Blower Motor Resistor

Ok guys need a little help. I have the problem of the blower only running on the high setting in my 2006 F-150. I just replaced the switch and it did not work reading here it sounds like this is a common problem with Ford and the problem is called the "blower motor resistor" I would rather change this my self but have no idea where it is located on my truck. Can someone explain where this is located so I can change it.

Thanks,

Wish I could tell you specifically, but I can tell you it is located in the ductwork.I suspect if you look under the dash,at the ducting, you will see it.The connector should have about 4 heavy gage wires going to it.Unplug the connector, and there are likely 2 screws that will remove it.The reason these are located in the ductwork,is they generate heat, and the airflow cools them off.If you find it,and once you get it out,I suspect the problem will be evident.Sorry I couldnt be more specific, but perhaps its a start.

Thanks I think I found it in the upper right had side of the cab in the duct work like you said. Will have to have the dealer order me one. Might be a little bit of a pain to get one of the screws out but looks doable.

Pull it out and give it a good visual if its not too much trouble. The "older" ones Ive seen consist of 3 heavy wirewound resistors. The theory here is that the dash control "selects" which resistor to pass voltage through(this becomes the speed setting).Since you only have high,I suspect the common leg of these three resistors has come apart.High bypasses the resistor block....
You may be able to make a temporary fix by re-attaching that leg to its contact.
Concerning going to the dealer to get it...I suggest a call to NAPA.

If it's the same as my 07 it's a $60 part. Drop the glove box and it's right there behind it. Took 10 minutes to change. It's a common problem so most dealers have the part in stock
