MPG's for an '05 V10

I have a chance to get a good deal on an '05 F250 V10 and I was wondering what kind of gas mileage could I expect to get out of it? It's a Reg/Longbed manual transmission.

10-14MPG is typical of a V10. That one being a 3V, Reg cab, and manual you might see an improvement because those will help you a little.

I get 11-12 mpg with an 08 CC 4wd auto, that is all back roads and "country" city. Towing I average 7-8 mpg, but when I tow it is a minimum of 10k lbs and usually closer to 12-16k lbs. I live in the hills so there is very little flat driving.

I get about 10 in suburban non-interstate empty driving. Less in the winter.

So really I'm not looking at too much of a difference from what I'm getting in my '01 5.4L reg/long auto. Right now I'm staying around 12-14 city unloaded and the only highway trip I took I got about 16. My '01 is my work truck and I'll be using it to tow a trailer (3-4K lbs) about 50-100 miles a day soon and if I could get a younger more powerful truck with less miles then I might just do it if the price ends up being right. My '01 has 215K right now and the '05 has 145k miles. Can't decide if I should sell my '01 and try the '05 or just stick with what I have.

If you drive it exactly the same, it should be VERY close to existing. Lose a little with the 3V, gain a bit back with stick.

If you can't resist the power (it's hard to resist!) and get on it a lot or tow faster, it will deliver less.

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunately while I was out of town the past two days the V10 truck sold so I'm going to stick with my 5.4L, but I just got back from a 700+ mile round trip in my 5.4L and averaged over 16 MPG on the trip so I guess I can't complain too much.

As long as your not towing the 5.4 is a pretty good motor! I keep thinking I would like to try a supercharged 5.4 in a SD as I think that would be a great combo for the "unloved" 5.4's out there! But I think the mileage may just be a little better than the V-10 so it could make a winning combo. If I could only find a reasonable priced s/c system?

My wife knew someone who was selling her 2005 F250 FX4, CC, Lariat, short bed, V10, with 17, 389 miles (white w/ grey leather). We purchased the truck last week for $17.5K. I've had the truck for a couple of weeks and put on 600 miles. My average MPG for the first two weeks is 12 mpg. 45% city 55 Hiway.

I do just fine towing over 8000 pound with my 5.4L, although it is a 3V engine.

What kind of weight do you pull? In the south west we have all the mountain passes to deal with if we want to go anywhere I tried once to pull my 30'tt with the expedition when I had no pickup running, that was in Jan of 07 it didn't work! I went out and bought my DRW the next week
