So i picked up this super cab a few months ago and have been working on it little by little. It is a lariat model so it came with all the bells and whistles like tilt column, intermittent wipers, lighted vanity mirror, and so on..I picked it up for $900 and about 5 hours of driving north to get it. it had a rebuilt 400 engine and c6 trans, np205 tcase with a dana 44 front axle and 60 rear.
heres when i first brought it home.



first thing i did was remove the camper

 

I then swapped in a front dana 60 with crossover steering and installed a 6" skyjacker lift and 37" tires. also put on my bumper with warn 12k winch.


i cleaned up the engine bay a bit and installed dual optima red tops, new super cooler radiator and a few other things.

 

Now im at the point where im swapping in a np435 manual trans. i had the trans rebuilt by a friend and i resealed the transfer case.


since im already going to have the rear drive shaft redone with 1350 yokes im going to swap in a 14 bolt with a detroit locker and disc brakes.


I just started tearing it down today and here is how it sits.

 

they day you brought it home, was worth $3000 up here all day long.

 

Same here. This is the kinda find you only hear about and **** and moan cus you wish you found it haha.

 

What type of crossover setup did you use? I'd like to see some pics if you have some.

i got the steering arm off my buddies chevy dana 60 for free and i ordered the crossover tube and used chevy tie rod ends. i already had the drop pitman arm i just had to rotate it 90 degrees.

Wow, very nice truck and a steal for $900. There is one very similar to that for sale locally for $5000. And he will probably get that for it.

 

Thanks. I was hoping you had a bought kit. I like the looks of the crossover and I'm sure it drives better than the push/pull. I'm in the middle of the D60 swap and it looks like I'm going to need a drop pitman arm and another drang link possibly. So I'm trying to decide if I should just go the crossover route.

 

That is a very good looking truck. Where did you find it? I'm about 5 hours North of you. Just curious.
