Thank you Mr. Hardy!

My name is Ethan Cooper, I live in Bowie MD right now, and with my family I'm working on restoring a historic house in Upper Marlboro. I'm 21 years old, and this is my first Ford. I was big into working on Porsche 944's (and I still am) for the last 5 or so years. I have a 1987 Porsche 944 that I transplanted a 1997 GM LT1 engine into, so between fixing the things that break on that car and the little projects and things I need to do on the Ford I'm going to be a busy man this summer!

A little about myself and my interests I suppose: I weld mig/flux core, mostly building custom exhausts when I have the chance, I have played guitar since I was 14, I like playing airsoft and paintball, I like guns, cars, women, beer etc....everything a young American man should like I guess! I'm enrolled at a college in PA, working on my Associates Degree in Math (which I despise...funny how that works huh?). I can drive a tractor (we have several) and work a chainsaw, and that's some of what I'll be doing to pay this Ford off this summer!

A bit about the truck that's brought me to this forum: It's a 1973 F100 originally, but there isn't a whole lot left of that truck on this haha! I was told that the frame was from an f350 but I'm not sure if that's the case. The cab was replaced with an original, never mounted, 1970-something F100 cab that the PO found in Ohio sitting in a Ford dealer under a tarp. I believe the bed and front body panels are from a 79 f250, I know for a fact that the grill is from a 79.
The Motor: 390 block, bored over 30, stroked to a 429 (maybe? I don't have my hands on the build sheet yet). 14:1 compression, all forged bottom end (crank, rods, pistons). Edelbrock 650 Thunder AVS carb, and she runs on pump gas! It's also go a full MSD ignition setup. The motor was built by Bill Coleman from the famed Coleman Brothers Speed Shop (google it if you don't know who they are).
The rear is a Mark Williams custom rear end, with 4:11 gears front and rear, detroit lockers, and 40 spline gun drilled axles in the rear. It's a 4 speed toploader with granny gear 1st, dana 21 2-speed transfer case. The truck has an 8 inch skyjacker lift and Mickey Thompson Baja Belted 39X18 tires on 15 inch American Racing wheels.

I'm done talking for now haha...I'll post up a couple of pictures in a minute!

Haha, thanks!

I'm hoping to have the truck running well soon, right now i'm fighting some junk in the tank that's making problems like clogging fuel filters etc...and once the trucks running real good I'll be hitting the get-togethers!

Ummm, sounds like you have a job of pulling the tank and doing a cleaning job. Do you know what kind of crap is collecting in the filters?

i actually think it's junk from the rubber jumper hose that goes from the metal factory line to the fuel pump on the block...it's very squishy and i don't think it's supposed to be! I'll be replacing that line tomorrow, as well as cleaning the carb out, because it probably has some of that junk in the bowl. The truck surges when there's load on it, and i'm 99% sure it's a fuel issue just because of that clogged fuel filter. If those two things don't fix the problem and i'm still getting junk coming from the tank the previous owner said he'll give me a brand new 19 gallon tank that's never had gas in it, and we can swap that one in and clear out all the lines. He's actually coming over tomorrow afternoon to help me try to get the truck running...that's how it should be right!

What do you need in exhaust work? I might be interested! I can do bodywork, but I absolutely loathe it, so I'd rather not, I've found I get much better results when I enjoy what I'm doing like building an exhaust!

I posted some more pictures in the Dentside specific forum, here's the link
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ew-73-a-2.html

And here's the link for my photobucket, with pics of both the truck and a couple of my car!

im going to pick up a magna flow muffler(2 1/5 in 3in out). can you make a 3in tail pipe and put it all together? the magnaflow is going to be considerably shorted than the stock so even if i could find a 3in tail pipe it would need some fab work.

that sounds easy bro...I'll need to see it first to get a gameplan going in my head, but it doesn't sound too bad at all. I might even have some leftover 3" piping from building a dual 3 inch exhaust that I could use.

And welcome!
