F-150 tire size?

I have a 79 F-150 4X4, bone stock with 31X10.5's on it now and it just doesn't look like a truck. Would a 33 fit in those wells or is it too much? Please post some pics so I can get an idea of what to get. i just ordered Mickey Thompson Classic ll wheels and was looking at Pro Comp X-terrain tires. This is a show truck, I just got it out of paint last week. It'll probably never even see a gravel road again in its life.

This is my 77 with 1 1/2" lift springs in front,,, those are 255/85/16 or 33x9.00x16 and there is plenty of room for 35's so yes you should be able to put 33's on it with no trouble, and look a hell of a lot better,,,

That's strange .... I've never had that problem and my '77 F-150 has worn 31/10.50-15s since at least 1986.

My speedometer is right on the money with them as well.

Good lookin' truck pickupman! Is that a '76 cab on your 77? I noticed the gas lid on the cab and on the bed. If i went with 1.5" lift coils, would i need to change anything else? (sway bar links, C-bushings, shocks)?? I really want to keep it stock, but yours is exactly the stance i'm looking to get.

Turbohunter, I have all kinds of pics but i never could figure out how to attach them on here. Is there a quick way to just upload one from my local pictures folder?

It's recommended with any lift that you get the corresponding C-bushings to correct the caster.

Sway bar end links? As the owner of a 73, that's foreign to me!!! LOL.

Thanks! It's my favorite one,, but don't tell the other trucks!!
Nope,, truck is a 77, last of the in-cab tanks and also got the AUX tank!
Yes, since I was going to do the lift coils, I also did new 4 degree C-Bushings, Radius arm bushings and track arm bushings,,, They were Superlift Coils,, from 4 wheel parts,,, they had all the bushings also. I haven't changed the steering from the Y setup yet,,, Sid (the truck) only has 97,k original miles,,, so everything is still tight and if it ain't broke,,, don't fix it!
I do plan on tryin the 35's off my wifes Excursion on it when they are getting low in the tread,,, just to see if I like the size,, or if they are to much meat,,, I went with 16x8 rims,,,, HUGE selection of rubber, and I have to say,, I was wingin-it when I ordered the 255/85/16s,,, but they are a great size,, and have taken me ALOT of places!
Thanks again and good luck
