Towing capacity for a 2003 f150 4.6 4WD

Hello Guys,
I have a 03 F150xl supercab, 4.6, 4WD,
I would like to know what the towing capacity is for this truck,
I had a 26,000lb transmission cooler put on a few months ago,
I moved from the midwest to the northwest and was pulling a small
12' uhaul, so didnt want to chance anything. My wife and I are interested
in buying a travel trailer and I just need to know what this pickup can handle. I've done some reading but still come up alittle confused.
From what I'm gathering I can't pull very much.
I'm hopeing someone can explain this to me, I'm pretty new to this,
Thanks,
Volksj

At the very top of this page you will see 'articles and specs'.
Click on and go to your year for truck specs and capacties.
There you will see your truck's rated factory weight.
In towing charts go to your trucks equippage to see the max gross combined weight rateing (GCWR).
You should see the GCWR as 11,600 lbs max.
This figure is derived by totaling up your truck total "loaded weight" and the trailer's total loaded weight include hitch hardware, full tank of gas and all.
Note any references to wheel size etc because this all has an effect on the total.
Look at your gear ratio, engine size etc.
I can assure you that at 11,600 you will not be very fast on the hills etc.
Expect about 9 mpg on mileage at very high weights.
Towing weight at near this level will over time take a toll on brakes, transmission longevity etc as the price paid to do your thing.
Bottom line is not to pick a trailer heavier that you can handle but as light weight as possible to still fit your desires.
PS don't let a sales person sell you on something and say you can pull it because they don't really know what you can pull unless they have specs for your truck, which is doubtfull..
Good luck.

Thanks for the info,
I know that some of the trailers I've looked are pretty heavy, We have decided that we wanted one somewhere in the 23-25ft range. Hopefully we can find one thats not to heavy! We've even consider a 5th wheel but ruled that out since I would lose the use of the truck bed.
Thanks again!
