Would you be nervous to order a new 6.2?

Now that it's been out for nearly a year, would you be nervous to order a new 6.2L in an F250? I have read a couple posts about bad camshafts and the thread about the transmission hic-cups makes me nervous...... I'm chaulking this up to a couple of bad examples out of thousands that have been built.....

The other viable alternative is a Dodge Hemi or a GM truck, and I'm not a real fan of either (for my own reasons)......I'd rather stick with a SD to replace my 08 F250, and I want to stay away from the high costs of the diesels.

Any thoughts?

For a first year engine I was surprised by the lack of posts with problems. That is one of the the reasons I went ahead and ordered mine. Usually a forum will attract people that are having problems and looking for answers so it makes it look worse than it is. The fact that there was only a couple of threads mentioning any problems gave me a good feeling on it. The flash for the transmission (and some for solenoids) that just came out to correct the problem with earlier built trucks seems to have worked. Only a couple on the forum have got it so far and it has not been very long to be absolutely sure, but it looks to be over. The new trucks such as mine that I will be taking delivery of tomorrow already have the new program from the factory. Myself I have only seen one post about a rocker arm and a couple on a ticking noise. Most of which turned out to be a loose plug wire. I haven't seen any posts of late of people buying newer trucks having any of these problems. Again a good sign. When it comes down to it any engine or manufacture can still have bad runs. It is the luck of the drown to a certain extent with anything you buy. Some more than others. My hunch is this one has the makings of a good engine. See how it is doing after a few years, looks good so far....

I love mine, didn't have any reservations about ordering it (although I wanted another V10 but Ford decided to stick with 1 engine for the 250/350's).

But since it's a new design, I got the extended warranty. My dealer gave me a pretty decent price on it.

Would you be nervous to order a new 6.2?

Naaaaaaaaa!!!

Also because I had the trans problem & pointed out that it may be "burning up" some clutches or something the regional rep gave me the Powertrain warranty (5 yrs/100K) for $0.00....

Got trans flash & solenoids.

Shifts fine now - Pulls good & I'm not nice to it - well, not all the time!

Super 08 - How long did it get to take your ordered Truck? Don't mean to hijack the post. I'm not afraid to order one of these, I'll mark my order date and what not, when I can get a siggy here soon. Hopefully it will get built as 2011, but I can opt out and wait if it's 2012. Then wait till the rebates go on again, (usually in September).

Thanks,
Chris

Mine was just over 6 weeks from the day I ordered it and it had to be shipped way up to North Western Canada. You are too late for a 2011 order, They will be starting the 2012 production run on July 25th. Your chances of getting a 2011 ordered are most likely slim to none. So if you get in on the first run of the 2012 trucks you would be looking at getting your truck in August some time. Not much in the way of changes from 2011.

Funny how Ford is letting Dealers put in orders for 2011 s then? I've seen trucks in dealer inventories around here that were built as late as May 27th. If that's the case I ll b waiting till the rebates go on 2012s. Basically the truck will not be made in that case, or I ll be able to cancel my order. I have a feeling as well that Diesel truck rebates will go quite a bit higher with alot of Diesels sitting on the lot on the US! Time will only tell what I get in the end.......I ll keep u updated!
