1999 v10 automatic trans shifting problems

i have a 1999 f350 4x4 sd with the v10... truck has around 180k on it and im havin some shifting probs... when the truck shifts into 3rd the rpms drop to 1500 and the truck shakes if i take it out of overdrive it shifts normal. any suggestions on whts wrong..... oh and its an automatic trans....

what is the typical failure mode on those trans? I'm about 45K miles away from 180K

I got 230+k out of one, 240+k out of another 4r100, both in trucks that pulled trailers for most of those miles.

thanks for the info i had a guy tell me it was somthing called a torque lockout sensor or something of that nature. but i wasnt sure. any more info on how to fix it would be great. im a fix it myself kinda guy if i can.

I've never heard of anything like a torque lockout sensor. I think it's an engine miss, either a coil or a spark plug.

Just out of curious when the last time the truck had the spark plugs and boots changed?

Do you just change parts on someone's recommendation? Especially someone that hasn't looked at the truck? Don't you think some diagnostics are in order?

Nonsense, we all know he just needs that CarMD thingy that plugs into that thingy under the dash that will tell him what parts he needs to replace. LOL
