2001 SD Daytime Running Lights

Is there any way to disable the daytime running lights without disabling the fog lamps? They are on the same fuse so that's not an option. I was wondering if the running lights had a relay that could be removed without disabling the fog lamps.

Well mine does, whenever you turn on the ignition switch, the headlights come on in a reduced capacity. After reading the owner's manual, it is a feature (I suppose it is optional).

Canadian. And yes there should be a relay, remove that and no drl.. As for fog lights with no parking lights probably not. You will likely have to wire up that switch your self

My fogs wont come on with the parking lights. They only come on with the headlights. Is there a way to fix that?

That's the way Ford used to do it. No headlights, no fog lights. But they did change that, not sure when though. I hada Mustang that was the same way. You either rewire the fog lamps or just deal with it.

Ahh. My previous truck, a 2005 F150, allowed the fogs without headlights. My guess is it changed in 04 with the body style change. And 05 for the superdutys.

Between myself and 3 friends we have 4 Super Duty trucks; 01, 02, 02, 06

Only the guy with the 01 is unable to run the fogs/markers WITHOUT the headlights on... the rest of our trucks all work the good way, lol. So I would think it was changed for 02 apparently.

To the OP, I once heard that there was some sort of fusible link found below the radiator area on the driver's side that when disconnected with disable the canadian DRLs. I've never actually seen it - but I was told it's an orange wire.... ???

As for the Fogs;
My 02 allows me to run Fogs w/OUT headlights. I think it's got something to do with my auto headlight option.

My friend's 02 is not this way, but we pulled the switch apart and modified it to allow for Fogs w/OUT heads. There is some good info on these pages:
How to modify the Headlight Switch to allow Fog Lamps to come on with Parking lights and Autolamps
S&S Diversified

Here's my non-modified (HID outfitted) fogs ON with headlights OFF.

I found the resistor for the DRL's mounted on the back of the left headlight bucket. Removed it and potted the connector with silicone. No DRL, Foglights still work....Thanks for all the replies..

You should be able to turn the headlight **** to P (Parking lights) and pull out on the ****. That is fog lights without headlights.

The fog indicator doesn't light up? That's strange.
