Having stripped our project '62 Unibody, getting it ready for painting, I was wondering how to find out the original trim paint color(s), as well as original paint color for a few of the interior bits. It is pretty easy to figure out the original body paint, but trim paint doesn't seem to show up anywhere in our various manuals.

Our truck is a base model, no chrome. What would the bumpers, wheels, grill color be? When we bought the truck the original owner had started the restoration a few years back and everything has old primer on it. Interior bits like the rear view mirror and visor bracket seem to be a dirty white (brownish) origiinally.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

 

I believe all that you listed would've been, Wimbeldon White. With the exception of the wheels. I don't know what color the wheels were originally.

 

ACH! Wimbledon White (which is a creamy or off white), was introduced in 1964, but was not used on grilles/bumpers.

1961/66: The Standard Cab grilles, the front/rear bumpers were painted Colonial White, which is a bright white. The chrome front/rear bumpers were an option for both Standard/Custom Cab Stylesides.

1961/63: The exterior color was Corinthian White, which was a pure white.

Most wheels were painted black at the factory, though I have seen some that were white. Beginning circa 1968, service part replacement wheels were painted argent.

The COLOR code is listed on the Warranty Plate. 1961/62: The Warranty Plate is located on the inside of the glovebox door.

 

the rear view mirror, visor arms and retainer brackets by the mirror were painted argent(silver) the defroster grilles, dash end cap pieces and if you have them, were all black...semi gloss ...same as the speaker grille if you have a factory radio. The inside fuel line to cab retaining clips, rear cab inner brackets/fuel tank bottom seat. upper tank retainer plates were all black as well...semi gloss...as were the floor vents and vent frames in the doors. everything else is body color...the dashes were most commonly the off white/creamy white. The original body color, depending on how stripped the truck is can be found under the floor mat, behind the firewall insulation pad would be the most easy to look at. The Warranty Plate on your truck would be on the inside of the glovebox door.

Just building my post count. What do I know, took a shot. By description I jumped on wimbeldon white. Corinthian is to white for description. You Da Man

 

All truck without a dash pad received the vents, speaker grill and dash end trims in body color. If you take a part a truck you will sometimes find the overspray from the painted parts on the floor of the cab.

in 64 you could also get the mirror, visor heads, vents and dash ends, chrome plated. We have a set of these for the AZRatrod (TM). First factory truck i have seen these on was the 63 XL f100.

I've never seen any of these trucks with chrome visor rods (04144), vents (044A98), or dash ends (04344/04345) chrome plated.

The day/night mirror was an option, it came in chrome, but I've never seen a plain jane inside mirror (17700) chromed.

Since you have the parts catalog, look these puppes up (I listed the basic part numbers, so you won't hafta look thru a gazillion pics to find them), see if you can find any listed in chrome.

Lotsa luck, cuz the parts catalog sez PAINT TO MATCH for everything except the inside mirror, only one is listed for 1961/66 and as "Squire" Don pointed out, it was painted argent.

(sigh) The 63 F100 XL was sold as a DSO special order, then modified by the buyer, so it hardly can be considered "stock."
