i pulled out the spout and it runs the same. set the timing with the spout out and it all of a suden idels perfectly. of course i got excited and took it for a drive and it had no power to accelerate but no longer missfiring at all hardly. it apears on my system pulling the spout makes no difference so there must be a bad wire some where or mabe the ignition module on the distributor? i cant find any bad wires but could it possibly be the ign module?

Yes. Replace it. Keep the receipt and be careful installing it. If it doesn't work, return it. It's a five minute job on that engine to swap it out. You are living the almost identical thing I went through last year. I did the wires, plugs, hoses, the whole deal. A bud on here told me to check the IAC. Mine LOOKED fine-swapped it out and she's running like a top now. It'll set you back $40.00 or $50.00 bucks, but I think it'll help. If not, return it. Hope it helps ya. These trucks are a lot of fun!

the spout gives electronic timing advance to the distributor... short for spark out... thats why you didnt have power when driving with it out. the tfi module on the distributor does have a tendency to fail, but my experience is that it just shut off and wouldnt fire. and if it did was random at best... didnt cause idle issues. i'm still leaning towards vacuum leaks... there are alot of lines that are hidden in wire looms and such. a thing to check as well is the fuel vapor lines between the charcoal can, tank, and intake. there is a valve that controls flow in the engine compartment.

ok heres an update... finally got some money together and got a tfi for the ignition. still hard to start and idles bad but when warmed up it idles perfectly and has more power than ever. so spout was bad but next step is to replace the IAC valve and hopefully that should help with hard to start and rough idle when cold. paycheck should be in tomaro so ill let yall know how it goes.

ok the new IAC is on and the truck runs great. all you can hear is a very random faint missfire sometimes on idle but other than that it runs beautifully, thanks for everyones help on this issue but now i must go fix a new problem that happend five minutes after installing the IAC. my front seal blew out on my transmission and its running out like a faucet. this is going to be a fun weekend pulling a tranny
