222K miles and I need Help...driving home last night and I heard a pop type sound started researching around today and thought I lost a fuel line but after the wife came out and cranked it for me noticed the fluid coming out the Oil pressure line from the Oil pump to the head on the left bank..SO...I read a bunch of post on here to remove them, some said with a pair of screwdrivers and even got a window regulator remover that is almost the same size...been under the rubber piece and pulled up and pushed down on the braided hose and still nothing...and this is the easiest one to get at under the air intake....been on top of the rubber piece and pushed it down and still nothing is there a trick to get these off...this is my daily driver and I need to get these off and get some two new ones in the morning...wife is missing her vehicle..

Removal and Installation of High-pressure Oil Hose from Cylinder Heads to High-pressure Oil Pump

To prevent personal injury or death, do not let engine fluids stay on your skin. Clean skin and nails using hand cleaner and wash with soap and water. Wash or discard clothing and rags contaminated with engine fluids.

High-pressure Oil Hose (Quick Disconnect)




Disconnection of high-pressure oil hose

1. High-pressure oil hose

2. Steel flange

3. Quick disconnect tool

4. Rubber umbrella

5. High-pressure oil pump





1. Insert fork of the quick disconnect tool ZTSE4449 between the rubber umbrella and the steel flange on the high-pressure hose.

NOTE: Prying or leverage with the tool is not necessary and will only result in tool damage.




2. Pull lightly on the hose to remove it from the fitting.

3. Install high-pressure hoses. Make sure that you hear a click, when inserting hose end (steel flange) into quick disconnect connector.

CAUTION:

To prevent engine damage, make sure high-pressure hose connections are secure.




4. Pull on hose connections to verify secure engagement.

get those lines changed boys and girls, there is NO good time for them to blow! Been there done that, once in NV and again in AZ. Bonus is the new updated ones don't have that nasty exposed braid to tear the skin off your arms next time you're under the hood. As far as removal goes, patience and persistence will win the day.

Hmmm saw the 100k "maint interval" listed - got 109 on my 00 guess - I'll be hunting for some new HPOP lines

 

Good tip Barney, 253k on mine and I'm heading to NJ tuesday....

 

$130-154 a pop from Ford, found them on Ebay for a instant buy for $100 for the pair... Just in case your looking for them... Search HPOP 7.3 diesel and they should come up. Think the guys located in Indiana...

 

They are used, and one of the ends has a damaged protective ring cover.

 

Go to your local International dealer and give them the IH part numbers...
Left bank was only $75.00 and the right side was $81 with no shipping charges...I pick them up Wed Morning... with tax $162.00 thanks for the info...Somebody shared the IH parts manual on the Ford Enthusiast website and I used that...

Are the ones you got the older stock lines are the newer ones Barney spoke of ?? Just wanted to know..

 

I'm assuming older; this line has the old IH part # on it......I'm second owner...220K miles on it...they are braided lines and the line blew through the side and even split the braiding...I noticed it had a oil leak a while back but just assumed a valve cover leak...driving home thurs night, it popped and just quit running...??? I'm assuming just replace lines and check fluid levels and then fire it up...Just got a lead on NAPA building the hoses too for alot cheaper but not going to make it there b4 five pm...have to wait till Monday on that...fill you all in if I find another option...We used to have hoses made through a Gas/Lube place for Hyd and they are lots more pressure then these and I don't remember paying anymore then $20-30 for those hoses....
