03 Expedition AC making a clicking sound?

Whats up everyone! i have an '03 Expedition and the AC unit in the rear clicks REALLY loud when the temp is set to cold (from the rear AC control), and only kind of loud when set to warm.
but there is this spot right in the middle of the two that stop the noise from occuring. i was wondering...what the hell is going on??
anyone have any suggestions?

That would be the temperature blend door actuator. Search it here, lots of threads on it. Unfortunately for you that one is the harder of the two to change.

Sounds like an actuator look at this thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ing-noise.html

Mr Eric,

It is a $40 repair that can take anywhere form 30 mintes to a couple of hours. There are 2 actuators for the rear air, one controls the high/low door and one controls the heat/cool door. One of your actuators has stripped its gears inside the case and the clicking is the sound of the actuator trying the move the door. Search the forum for the "clicking" in rear air and you'll find lots of information on how to fix. It is not hard to fix and the part is about $40. Don't worry too much.

I've replaced both of them three times (so far). I seem to get around 3 years before they fail. They seem to fail within a couple of months of each other and it's always been the same $0.02 part. Replace them both while you are diggin into it.
