2008 F250 Steering Sticks

When driving 30 mph or more and I turn, the steering sticks but it does not occur every time. I thought it may be the steering dampner, so I replaced it, but that was not the problem. It also seems to stick if I'm driving 50 mph+/- and I have to apply the brakes at a traffic light. Once I stop at the light, it seems normal again. Noticed the other day the steering wheel seems to have to much play in it going straight so could it be the steering box needs to be adjusted(is this possible) to remove the slack?
Would like to trouble shoot the problem prior to dropping it of at the dealer to make sure I'm not taken to the cleaners.
Thanks

The steering wheel has too much play and the steering wheel sticks? You can't adjust the gearbox for that.

One thing you can check pretty easily is your front U-joints. Park with the wheel hard to one side and the front hubs out. Reach around and turn the U-joint around a couple revolutions by hand. Feel for any binding. Also check for slop. I had a frozen U-joint that manifested itself as a steering issue. The wheel felt like it would bind up.

My truck is a 2 wheel drive so are you referring to the U Joints on the drive shaft?

My bad, I assumed you had 4wd. Please disregard my previous advise.

Get her to a shop soon. Something under there could be getting ready to let go. Or it could just be a cracked ball joint. Either way, she's probably not safe to drive.

There is another person in Houston that I ran accross on a fishing forum with a 2008 F250 and he is having the same problem. He thinks it may be a flawed steering box. I know Ford has had some issue with steering boxes on older models and he is thinking they may issue a recall for these but I doubt that will occur.
Thanks for your input anyways.
