Towing with the Raptor

I just towed 6000lbs (max rated load for a supercab, supercrew is 8000lbs) with a 2011 supercab and it does just fine. It does allow a bit of sway but the trailer was only 16ft so an 18 footer would probably tow better. The Raptor has plenty of power and torque to pull this load, but the suspension is soft and you do notice it. I pull the same load with my f450 last summer. With the 450 you didn't even fell the trailer but the ride is very harsh. With the raptor you fell the load but the ride is very very nice.

feman, thanks for the reply. My old '56 has carb problems, so I didn't tow it down to Tenn for the show. I'll be towing my 25' atv/sled trailer up to Maine next week. It'll be around 6500lbs with six atv's in it. It doesnt have the weight dist. bars on, but I'm hoping it does fine. Looking forward to towing it to Mt. Washington for a atv ride in July.

I towed my trailer to Maine last week. It probably weighed around 5500lbs. There was about two inches of suspension drop with the trailer hooked up. I had no weight distribution bars and it seemed fine. I towed it for 210 miles on the highway and averaged 9.6 mpg. with tow/haul mode on. So far, I'm happy with the power and the way it towed.

Timbren?
I've heard about Timbren elastomer bumpstops that help reduce the sag while towing. Has anyone used them? If so, how do you like them, and can you leave them on for every day on road driving?I've been searching posts in the towing section, but the're all super duty trucks that use them. I have a '11 Raptor supercrew.

I just wanted to throw in my thoughts.
Given the trailer and load is within specifications and once the leveling bars are set-up correctly, I see no problem at all towing with the Raptor. It takes a fair amount of time setting the leveling bars, hitch height and where to put the weight in a an open trailer. You can really influence the unit when loaded incorrectly. Keep an eye on where your hitch weight is with the load you applied.
It scares me driving on the Interstate once in awhile, people have not a clue when it comes to towing a trailer.

Ive towed 13,000 pounds with my 2011 super crew. I had no problems . Yeah you can tell its there but thats because the horses were moving around. Other than that it towed easy. I climbed a pretty decent hill and the truck was just a little sluggish (as to be expected when towint with a gas truck) i wouldnt think twice about doin it again. The tow haul mode helps out quite a bit.
