Two tank operation

I have a 94 turbo idi and had a buddy telling me that you can burn straight oil when the engine is up to temp. My question is if there is anyone out there doing this and how it is working for them. He explained the process to me pretty well just making sure i'm not going to ruin anything if I do this.

it may work for a few miles, but without a way to heat the oil in the lines/tank it won't last long
