I've heard there are head differences for different 2008 builds and that later is better. Search didn't seem to offer much and so I am trying to determine how important the build date is on a 2008 Expy.

Along these lines, as I'll be using it to haul a car trailer, is the factory tow package worth it, or is it better to get an aftermarket hitch and tranny cooler?

HD tow also includeds a larger engine coolant radiator and the full 7-pole wiring (including the electric brake connection) at the rear bumper.

Pulling my 5000 pound camper across the Alleghenies (river and mountains) the engine coolant is a flat line that doesn't exceed 200°F.

I found the engine build date when they changed the head design to the new spark plugs - wrote it down sometime in the past so I'm not sure which thread its in - the switch over date is 10/08/07 - again this is engine build date, not the vehicle build date, so you will need to find the engine build date which I think would be some where on the valve cover or top of the engine.
