BEST fuel mileage out of the 1997 7.5L engine.
Hello I am wondering what is the best fuel mileage anyone has got out of the 460. How did you achieve it and how much money.
Thanks Logan

thru the winter 12 to 13.5 with cap on and 300lbs in bed ( 2wd )
in the summer no cap empty managed 15.2 on a 500 mile highway trip
towing a 9000lb 5th wheel it drops to 9mpg
cut out intake horns , headman headers , no cat , 3inch exhaust,
6 litre tune up , k and n panel filter , need to do a maf conversion to see if i can manage any more empty

what about any computer chips for the 460. Has anyone tried them
Has anyone tried using super chips or anything in that sort of field to acquire better fuel economy? I also found a site they claim their exhaust system will gain 10 to 15% better fuel economy with 68 more hp and 100 or so torque. Could this be true?

Truck in sig w/ 3.55 gears: I've managed 14.2 and 14.5 both on 250 mile trips, on a state highway with practically no stops and a constant 55-60 mph. Truck was unloaded and I was following other traffic; not drafting really (don't want rock chips in the hood), but I wasn't the splitting 100% of the air myself either.

you should have asked who has the BEST AVERAGE MPG,if you wanted to see real world numbers that mean anything.
also asking for the amount of tanks back to back were included in each persons results could help you find how accurate each were, and which to toss to the side.
just a suggestion for next time.

My 460 seems to get better milage loaded on the highway. My work site is approximately 25 miles from home and it drinks a half a tank a day. But, a short while ago I went to another town about 20 miles further down the road to pick up a free slide in camper I found on CraigsList and round trip it only used a quarter tank. ?? AnD it was extremly windy (cross winds) the day I picked up the camper. What gives?
