sync not working

I have anew issue now with my 2011 F150 FX4. The sync stopped working the day before. I got nothing when I pushed the Media button. No phone, directions, menu. Then it started working for a while yesterday then stopped, Later on it started working now it nothing. Who if any has had this problem, or stopped working altogether and found fix.

Thanks

I'm guessing you mean 2011?

Since you're losing all functions, I would check for a loose connection in the steering wheel harness.

I had this problem with mine just after I bought my truck almost 2 years ago. Dealer had to replace my radio. Everything was fine up until about 2 weeks ago and it stopped working again. I ended up having to replace my battery after the hard freeze we had last week and it started working when I reconnected the new battery, guess it needed a hard reset. Try disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes and see if it works right after that.

Rather than disconnect the battery, simply remove the Sync fuse for 2-3 minutes.

This solves about 95% of these type issues.

Obviously it will not solve a true loose connection or hardware fault.

I need to remember all this advice if I ever encounter any issues.

In my experience, Sync works 99.5% of the time - more than I can say for my other electronic devices.

I have to agree. My sync works great other than the 2 minor issues I had. Connects with my phone with no problems, both ipods work just fine.

no complaints from me

I have two Fords: a 2010 Escape and a 2010 F-150. Sync works great in both with no issues.

It's made by Microsoft. It is gonna require rebooting from time to time.

Today, sync had a bluescreen of death for me... This is the 3rd time it has happened. It might happen when I have a 32GB (no, maybe 64GB - I forget now) flash drive connected; less than 200 songs.

Start truck, turn on radio, sync is dead -- nothing is useable on the radio or on the steering wheel control pads.

Turn off truck.

Unplug USB.

Turn on truck.

Sync comes back to life.

Plug in USB.

All is well.

I'll need to do some googling.... contact sync help desk... sell Microsoft stock.

Just bought a 2011 XLT and have had the same issue happen twice. Sync would not respond at all on radio or steering wheel. Phone and Ipod would not engage or show up. Had to shut truck off and restart to get it working. It's a warranty issue but still frustrating.

2011 XLT Sync

Ditto for me.....I have new '11 F150 XLT, 5.0 with Sync......worked great first day........since then Occasionally it will drop the phone. I noticed this after a two or three minute stop (shutting down and removing key) like going inside store and getting coffee.....then I get back into cab and sync may or may not boot up completely. I have noticed that if I shut down completely & restart, most of time everything comes up ok.

Question: do I need to download updates from the syncmyride.com site and install?

I've never experienced this on other brands I've had with bluetooth phone.

IMHO truck is really teriffic despite this minor inconvenience!

thanks for review, ratucker3

Run the status checker at Syncmyride.com. If there updates, it will upload them to a USB. Follow the instructions (TO THE LETTER).

I suspect, however, the issue with dropping the BT connection is your phone (BT phonebook transfer). try turning it off and see if it works better.
