Max tow?
The Max tow gives you the Tow mirrors, 3.73 axle, Upsized Radiator, Transmission Cooler and Hitch. What kinda hitch does it come with it must be rated for 11,300lb is it a 12k hitch? What else do you get in the max tow? I have heard a stronger Steering Ratio Is there something else I am missing?

I believe that you also get a heavy duty rear bumper as well as the above.
Max tow package is for trailers over 5000lb. I also had to include trailer tow mirrors as a seperate item.(360.00). For some reason on my order the max tow package was $1000.00 and then $500.00 credit. So only $500.00.

i have searched this out. all max tow gives you is the
A) upgraded trans cooler
B) 7700 lbs leaf springs
C) 20:1 steering
D) 3.73 gearing
now if you want true max tow get a lariat or platinum and i think king ranch. thay will come with thees extras up to 2010. i cant say any thing about 2011's as i know not!
the trailer brake controller is an extra on every thing south of the lariat.
the tow mirrors are also an extra on every thing south of the lariat.
the receiver and the 7 pin / 4 pin plugs come with a regular tow package or max tow!
this was told to me buy one of the head mechanic at local ford dealer. (mission valley ford trucks)
this is why some of us had to add the mirrors or TBC modules.
i dont know if the max tow receiver is rated for 12,000 lbs. but i guess it has to or thay could not clam 11300 lbs. but i also thought 12,000 lbs receivers had a 2.5" hole in them? i dont know that much about receivers so?

In an attempt to dispel some misinformation...
There are actually three separate Max Trailer Tow Packages per the 2011 F-150 Order Guide (published 09/03/10). However, the differences between them are pretty much limited to the mirrors themselves. (Package 60C is only available on Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum, and those already have the SelectShift transmission.)
This Order Guide may be slanted towards the US markets. Hence, some differences may be seen in other markets.

Incidentally, a class IV trailer hitch is rated for 12,000lbs with a 1,200lbs tongue weight.

The 20:1 steering piece was puzzling me, and I went digging around. I can find references in the 2009 model year F-150 sales brochure & Order Guide that this was a standard component of the Max Trailer Towing Package. However, I have not seen that in any Ford literature before or since, and I went through sales brochures & Order Guides ranging from 2007 through 2011.
Maybe that steering change was dropped due to negative feedback? Or, maybe it was just dropped from the literature? It is hard to say at this point.

Download a copy of the order guide, it will fill in lots of blanks that other Ford documents don't offer up.
