Hello All,

My current Ford truck is a 1978 F250 4x4. I just picked it up last week. It needs some TLC but it seems to a very solid base to get started with.

I've picked up a few things for it from LMC that needed immediate attention. I also learned that they don't make 16.5" tires any more. It still had the factory 16.5" wheels on it. The tires were in extremely bad shape and I need some quick so I could drive it. I did happen find a very decent set of aluminum 16" rims with tires for $250.00.

Since it has the np203 in it I'll be looking to swap in a np205. I'll be posting questions about that. If anyone has a lead on a np205 let me know. I'm in Papillion. In fact I'll probably have a lot of questions as I get her into shape.

Looking forward to visiting with all of you here on the forum.

Welcome to the Nebraska chapter from the former Omaha guy who now lives in exile in South Dakota!

Great chapter with lots of helpful folks, jump on in with both feet!

Sounds like a great truck... I used to have a 78 F250 4x4, wish I would have kept it, but it was about wore out when I bought it. What motor do you have in yours?

Welcome to the site! I'm in Elkhorn. We have a couple of guys with the same truck (78-79), so I'm sure they can help out. I will say, be careful with LMC. I've had problems with them on my 67. Some of the other guys on here have had problems with them also. I can shoot you info on some other suppliers if you'd like.

I was just reading up on the various parts vendors. I ordered catalogs from NPD, DC and MAC's. The parts I got from LMC were nothing major.....Dome light, washer fluid reservoir/pump, LH parklight and open wheel center caps for when I put the lock outs on.

Thanks again for the welcome.

P.S. How do I put a pic of my truck at the bottom of my replies like you guys do???

That's where I went, to NPD and DC. Going to get my cab corners from DC also.

Not sure if that is a good thing or not... lol

LMC seems ok for the little stuff. I got into trouble with some of the aftermarket trim... didn't fit right and was a hassle trying to return it.

To add a picture at the bottom, Click on "User CP" (on the left side of the screen, a little ways down from the top), the select "Edit Signature" from the list of options that run down the left side... That will open a page where you can add your name, pictures, etc. to your signature line and it will appear automatically in every post you make.

edit - Just noticed, it looks like you already have a signature line, so you just need to add whatever image you want to your signature... there is a picture box below the signature edit box where you can upload a photo.

According to the vin. number it's supposed to have a 400M. Supposedly the original owner put a 351M in it years ago..........The tag on the valve cover says 400cid but the old valve covers could have easily been swapped over to the 351M engine when it was replaced.

So in other words I'm not 100% sure if it's the 351 or 400. Any way to verify for sure?

It's got the C6 auto in it also.

I'd check with the guys in the 351 forums. There may be some external markings on the block to tell you. So, what are you plans for it?

Only way to really tell is to pull off one of the heads and measure the stroke.

You can also pull the oil pan off and look at the piston skirt as it will either have a 400 or 351M stamped on it from the factory.
