MAP Sensor
When the MAP sensor went out on my Bronco, it had a very eradic idle. It would stall out if I did not crank it up with my foot on the gas. It would stall at a trafic light if foot was not on gas revving it to about 1500rpm. The rpm's would jump 400-500 when driving 60 MPH. You'll definately noice if it's going out.... It was a cheap fix though, once we found out that it was the problem.

MAP Sensor
When running the KOEO test, It showed that there was a possible short in the map sensor. I did unplug the sensor and then start the truck, but it wouldn't even idle at all then. Plugged it back up and it ran, but after it got warm, it started the same old rough idling up and down at stop lights, stop signs and sometimes in park.

MAP Sensor
My 92 5.0 engine idles rough on cold winter days and throws out a bit of black smoke. The code I retrieved was 128 (MAP sensor vacuum line broken) but the vacuum was good. I also got a code 173 (running rich) probably as a result of the MAP code. I've reset the codes and replugged the MAP sensor and all seems to be well but I wonder if these things crack in cold weather or just wear out internally or could it be an intermittent bad electrical connection due to the cold?. How much to buy a new one?

Greeting all, my failing MAP sensor brought me here...now that I've confirmed what I though the problem is, I've gone ahead and found a used map sensor on ebyay for under $20, it's a $70 at the dealer.
my 3.0 v6 all of a sudden started to misbehave..wouldn't idle at all..at first..I unplugged the map ( i am really lame on ford FI, I've never had a problem and I was an import wrench before FI was even common) on a hunch that something was feeding the FI bad info ( this truck has been running well considering the age )..when I noticed the vac line going to it, i said "what the heck" and pulled the plug..boy was I shocked when the truck started and ran great..noticed the gas mileage was in the pits however. but the FI light wasn't on, and I don't have a code puller. I was going to try the reset of the ecu..but after reading yoru stuff, I decided to buy the sensor.
anyhow I'm glad to be here.
