I replaced my stock headunit last year after it crapped out with a Pioneer. Not thinking, I never removed the 6 cds in it. Now I can't power up the changer to get the magazine out.

What can I do to get the magazine out or power it up? I dont have the clips for the radio to remove it. If I pull the panel off to get the changer out, is there any way to remove the magazine without power?

 

dynamite works wonders...but drastically shorten the life both unit and CD's but at least they'd be out.

i would think that you could put some temporary power to your old unit to get the CD's out...couple of short pieces of wire, 1 for ground and 1 for power, attach one of each to your battery and the ground to case of the unit , the other to the power spade of the unit and try it

 

Applying external power should do it,but you MAY need to supply the ground and TWO hots...One for the main radio B+ and the other to the "Memory" circuit.Both "Hot" lines can come from the same wire.Not sure if the memory circuit is needed,but it wouldnt hurt to supply both.

OR...IF you used an adapter cable to install the Aftermarket unit,just pull it,and plug in your old unit temporairily,get your disc,s,and then put the aftermarket back in......ooops...just reread your original post about not having the removal clips...you can make a couple with coat hanger..Ive done it many times before..got a couple sittin in my toolbox as I post.

 

original headunit is not possible. It completely crapped out and stopped working all together. There was nothing working in it. Thats why i got the pioneer installed. I almost wish I had found a used stock radio to replace mine.

 

Same thing sorta happened to me so I left the radio with a local stereo shop I trust & the next time they were doing a stereo in a truck like mine they plugged in my radio first then voila, out came the CD.
