not sure on the distance for the leaves. and i not sure on the prices, but check out Hotrods to Hell they have a bolt on setup and build kits for the 53-56 fords. its a long "truckarm" rear suspension. they call it "centerdrive" but its basically what you would find under a NASCAR. just something that i cam across looking to do the same style setup on my 52.

The frame is 34 inches, the bed is 49", the leaves are outboard of the frame. You won't be able to tub it much unless you put the 4 bar under the frame and if I am not mistaken the bolt in goes on the outside of the frame.
I used a triangulated weld in unit which places the lower bars under the frame and it gives me all the room from the difference in the widths to put tubs. The tires I want to use on the rear are 295s and the rims have enough back space and offset to keep the tires inside the fenders allowing me to tub the bed and still have a few inches between the tire and the frame.
