1992 302 knock sensor

Hey. I am new to the forum and my truck is a 1992 F150 5.0/302 4X4 swb. I recently bought the truck and in process of complete restore have found out that the manufacture has discontinued the knock sensor and I have had no luck at local parts shops. Truck runs great but stil would like to find a replacement for it. If anyone has an idea please HELP!

I have the same problem...Mine is DESTROYED!!!!!..Once again...DESTROYED!!!! It amazes me how the P.O.'s drive these vehicles in the GROUND!! Just continue to dump oil in it and some gas, maybe put some air in the tires(Only 'cuz they LOOK low) drive it further in to the GROUND...AND AT THE SAME TIME, GET IT INSPECTED!!!!!!!!

I did see some available thru E-Bay. You can do a search here, hence someone was just asking for one for a '92 4.9L and could not find one anywhere.

Looks like I'll be saving the KS from my old 5.0L. That's an expensive little part.

I plan on keeping the distributor from the old 302 as well since it's almost new. I am planning on selling just about everything else from the old 302 to try to recoup some of my losses.

Should be located on the back of the block, below intake manifold, close to the bellhousing.

At the back of the block on top behind the intake manifold. At least I think that was it.

^ unplugging a KS will not help. It might even cause a fault code and the CEL light to turn on. You need a new one.

If sensor detects knock...retards timing 4 degrees. If you are not expierencing knock you could run it without....may or may not set check engine light. I believe the trucks were the only 5.0's to even get the sensor. I am guessing due to possible pulling of heavy loads with today's great fuels.
