Custom tilt hood for 53-56 f100
#2
I installed the tilt hood kit from No Limit Eng. man that thing was a pain the ***. I've been thinking of building my own on my friends '55 sort of based on theirs but a different track system. that was the main problem. getting the hood to fit was the easy part. getting the hood to latch correctly without wanting to fall off the tracks and hit the fenders was hard. plus the hood prop was an issue. I actually had to use some helicopter parts from work to get it to function right.

Check out Randy Jack and Axracers galleries, they both made a forward tilt hood that is different than the ones you can buy and have all the bugs worked out. Here is another link that may help you out as well if you want one like you can buy 1954 Ford F100 4x2 - Hood Repair

Hello Randy, I'm curious, how hard is it to push your hood down and what pressure of gas shocks are you using. I got custom shocks made for my rear door of my panel, I had some shocks from a Ford van that were obvious for a heavier door and was a chore to pull the door down and when opening it you had to be careful not to let it get away from you.
