2002 Ford Escape transmission problem no reverse please help!
I have a 2002 Ford Escape V-6 automatic 2wd. The transmission works pefect in all forward gears. When you put the truck in reverse you can feel the trans. grab in gear but when you give it gas to back up the motor just revs up and will not move. We took it to a transmission shop and they ran a diagnostic test on the trans. and said it did not give any codes. I think it might be a band or clutches. I was getting ready to pull the transmission out but I just wanted to check to make sure that their wasn't a solinoid or something simple that might cause this problem. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Also if anyone knows where I can find any info on transmisssion removal would be great. Thanks

The reverse gear does not rely on electrical circuits or controls for engagement. Therefore, your lack of reverse indicates a mechanical or hydraulic failure. This will be a blown seal or a busted hard part, only a tear-down will tell.
Get the service manual for removal instructions. There are too many other things to address during R&R to go without for an non-experienced person.
