Traction Control-Can it be turned off?

Hey guys
Got a 2010 F150 2wd XL. I have the button on the dash to deactivate the traction control. However, while it decreases the amount it intervenes it does not completely turn off.
I ask because I noticed in the past that when going up hills(dirt) or pulling equipment. If the load is heavy, there is gonna be tire spin. Which is fine and expected. But when the traction control cuts in i lose all momentum.
Its even worse in the snow! Almost dangerous, I went around a curve the other day and the truck began to slide, no bid deal, counter-steer and keep even pressure on gas. NOPE! computer cuts in and no power, truck snaps back the other way and with no power to keep wheels spinning around we go!
Is there some way to do away with all the traction control?
