Need to get the bed replaced and having a horrible time, i'm a complete novice at this type of stuff! i was told that other years might work for the truck instead of just saying absolutly that year model, is that true and if so, which years? thanks

 

1980 thru 1986 are an exact match, while 1987 to 1996 will fit, but lacks the matching wheelwells of the 80-86. If changing to a different year, be aware of changes made to the tailgate hinges/latches/straps or cables. 80-82 uses a different tailgate than 83-86, and the 87-96 beds would need the matching gate, but there are 2 different types. I'm not sure of the exact year the change was made.

 

All boxes 1980-1996 will be a direct bolt in swap.

Only 6 bolts holding it to the frame.


Bolts are most likelly rusted on, grind the heads off, remove bed, get rest of bolts off frame, replace with new ones. Really easy.
