I have an '88 F250, 4x4, 351 auto. reg. cab. I found some front leaf springs off an '87 F350 on craigslist. Would these be a direct fit on my truck? I am looking at a plow for my truck anyway, so would this be worth it?

 

Depends on what F250 you have, if its the over 8500lb GVW it will work. I think the lighter duty F250 uses smaller springs (width wise).

 

my friend did it. leveled his truck out and everything. I dont think his was a heavy duty F250, as it came with a 351.

 

NO NO NO. Stock F350 springs will not work in a F250 unless you have a D60. The 250 springs are made to not only go up and down but also curve with the arch of the TTB suspension.

The F350 springs are designed to ONLY move up and down. If you use F350 spring , in a short time they will stress them selves in to garbage and sag worse than your original f250 springs

 

I didnt see he said fronts, no they wont work if they are fronts. Rears work fine, Brads right.

 

The f250 has TTB front with NEGATIVE arched springs and that f350 has a dana 60 straight axle and those springs are positive arched and will not work !!

 

Alright thanks everyone, I questioned it right away because of the solid axle on the 350's and the TTB on my 250. I have no intention of doing a solid axle swap.

 

The F 250 springs are stiffer. They are a 3400lb spring and the F 350 is a 2200 lb spring.
Stick in an add-a-leaf spring and it will support your plow just fine. The ratings sound wrong,but the ttb needs a stiffer spring. If you do a solid axle swap get the f 350 springs
because the 250's will beat you to death. Don't ask how I know!

not true, my 89 is factory stock with a 351 and it is gvwr 8600#

 

He's right, the F350 basically pivots between leaf springs, but the 250's TTB pivots from nearer the center of the truck, much shorter & less leverage, requiring a stiffer spring. Some Greek guy figured this leverage thing out a couple thousand years ago, and some Ford engineer blatantly stole his principle.

my old 87 f250 has a 351 ans is HD 8600 # c6 2x4

 

I think the Greek guy designed the crappy ttb also!
