Okay, so my heat isn't working but the heater core tubes get hot so I don't think it's that. I've read a lot of posts (none specifically for my case, all for f150's.. is it the same?) but i'm a little confused on the best way to get to the blend doors on my truck. I read a post about being able to reach the blend doors after removing the heater core? Also, taking the glove box out, I have a box in the way of the ?plenum? which I'm lead to believe (from other posts) is the abs control module, which i unscrewed both screws. Next I read about removing 10 screws to access the heater core from inside the cab. This is the tricky part. I've read about both needing to do it from inside and outside the cab and if this pertains to me since that was from a f150 post.

Also, it's cable controlled since most posts talked about being actuator controlled?

Yes the F150 and the F250 are the same.
You can only get at it from inside the cab.
All blend doors are cable controlled.
Yes you have to take out the 10 screws to see it form inside along with the glove box. This allows you to remove items that may have fallen down from the vents and blocking its operation.

Note that the cable control is on top and if that is the problem you can get at it with out removing the 10 screws.

Ok done! I will post pics of my blend door controller it is a little different just incase anyone needs to reference it. Also for my truck, there were only 7 screws to remove. Also had to unclip wires from a few places but it is removable without taking apart the dash! Hope this helps someone out in the future!

 

I've seen it break at the controller **** before.

 

I learned alot from this topic. I am also having the same problem and am looking forward to get my heater back on.

 

Oh by the way I didn't replace my blend door I just took a book of matches and a pen out and voilà! Heat! Glad you found it helpful, I looked through over 100 threads before pieceing together enough info to figure it out for my model.

 

Alright, this is the abs controller, sitting infront of everything, disconnected:



This is with the abs controller out of the way but you can still see the abs controller cable (the black and grey bunch) and the other cable that i removed (the white colored pieces) The two copper colored pieces are where the abs module was screwed into. You can also see the cable for the blend door in the black sleeve making a "U" from bottom left going to the right then ending at the to top left and the controller being the white pieces top left:

Thats what my cable looks like. Just ease the end of the cable off of the little shaft that its sitting on. Then the white cylinder part has a clip on the back.

 

Good to know, I didn't need to take the white piece on the right off, just unhooked the cable from the piece on the left with my fingers (went back on just as easy). The piece on the right came off (attached) when i took the heater core cover off.

 

Thats right it does. For some reason I had to take mine off once before, but that might have been when I replaced the cable.

 

aaaaha! this thread made my day! heater stuck on hot since my heater core replacement a few months ago. didnt realize until it got to 90+ here last weekend and no cold air in the cab. my ******* didnt clip the cable bracket back in and therefor no movement of the actuator door... cold and comfortable now. thank you!

 

So i've begun searching google for a new controller anticipating the cable has streached... i can't find a cable driven controller. Any hints out there?
