Well, I decided I didn't want to go into work today, so I ended up at the junkyard after all. Looked at the Galaxie, but it had a two barrel on it. Started walking around and the first older truck I come to is a '76 or so with the hood off. I take a peak and darned if the carb isn't gone and there staring me in the face is a manifold with four little holes in it! So I now have a greasy old 4-barrel manifold. For $15 at that! I just need a carb now. I should have looked around today, but I didn't do it before I pulled the manifold, and I didn't want to push around the wheelbarrow all over the place. Besides, I think a carb is something I want to purchase new. Oh, and I learned a valuable lesson today. When prying the intake manifold loose with a piece of old exhaust pipe, alway, I repeat, ALWAYS move off to the side! I feel SOOOO stupid with this band-aid on my forehead! Dumb, dumb, dumb! Worst part is, I am in a wedding in exactly two weeks! Sure hope this 3/4" gash heals by then. Well, I hope this manifold performs o.k., seeing as how it is just a stock manifold. I'll have to save up my money for an Edelbrock for later. I am probably going to install this one on my stock motor in the truck just to see how it runs. Should be interesting to see how it feels compared to a 2-barrel! Thanks again Mike for the heads-up on the Galaxie even if I didn't find the manifold in it.

Hey Chad:
Man am I excited for your find of that 4-brl, and at $15 you can't miss! The way I see it, you can't go wrong in upgrading at that price, even if they are on the heavy side. I also saw that you picked up some sweet paperwork for your records. A good day at the yard sure beats a great day at work anytime. I'm sure the gash in your head will heal by wedding time, there is always bondo and paint if necessary...
Don't worry about the carb missing, there are a lot of places that pull those off the motor when it comes in the yard and they sell them out of the office. You can even buy the one you want now and slap it on that intake. I figure that because these aren't daily drivers, there are only a dozen bolts to get through a manifold swap, if necessary!
If you find another gem, pick it for me!
