1994 Bronco 5.0 engine swap?
Hello. Long time lurker (since 2006) and my first post.
I'll preface this question with the knowledge this forum and members have helped my Bronco live a better life. lol.
I've recently come into a lot of money and time for a new truck or rebuild my beloved Bronco. My current likes are the 2011 Toyota Tundra 5.8. It does however cost upward of $33K.
My question: (money is no object here)
Current engine is a 302 EFI that is very anemic and would like to swap it out or perhaps rebuild the 302 for more hp and torque. It has a new transmission about 3K miles ago.
What would you do? Rebuild or buy a new truck?

I'd buy a 347 stroker kit, RHS 180 heads, and Comp 35-310-8 cam. Combine that with the stock intake(port matched to the heads), a MAF conversion if it's not already, Moater Quarterhorse(tuner), 24lb injectors, and a full exhaust system and you have something like 350hp and well over 400Tq.

I'll second the idea of keeping a classic in good shape especially if it keeps "yota" from selling another vehicle. A brand new 5.0 (302) or even a high performance swap as GIGGER suggested. Take care of all the "cosmetics" too. That ol' Bronco will look brand new and you (and lots of others) will appreciate it much more than a new "Yota". Remember too that you can't run topless or come to this forum for great advice if something does go wrong. But we are getting into personal preferences here. I would much rather cruise in an old Ford and get the admiration for it as a timeless hard-working truck that is still on the road and outperforming most of the newer so-called high-performance "cute-utes". But I digress. Keep the Ford... Owning a classic is far more rewarding.

Yeah, I too am leaning towards keeping the Bronco. The condition is above average in the looking dept. I've kept in all stock for the reason of upgrading.
How does the OEM Ford high performance engine stack up against a Rouch or other high end engine builders turn key engines?
BTW- my local Ford dealer will be doing the installation.

I would swap or rebuild the tranny also when i took that old engine out, the Toyota is a nice truck, but you have a nice truck in good working order, and think of the economics, the upkeep alone of that new truck...

The transmission is virtually brand new with 3,000 miles on it. I would probably get a different stall rate torque converter with a HO engine though.

There is a guy on another forum that built either a 393 or 408 and did it right and is getting great results. granted he did spend some coin but the build went very well and the performance is outstanding.
the thing about a 347 is its still a small cube motor. makes its power high in the rpm range and honestly best suited in a stang or go fast vehicle. U can spend the same coin on a 5.8 and get far better results and it be a daily driver as well.
try and find this build if you can i highly recommend it. its on another bronco site the guy is from seattle if i recall.
