V10 WATER PUMP REMOVAL

My V10 engine in my 97 motorhome threw a connecting rod so i recently removed it. I am in the process of dis-assemby. How in the world do you remove the large nut thats connected to the water pump? My water pump pully turns obviuosly but i did manage to grab a couple of the bolts on the front of the pully with vice grips managed to jam it good and still could not brake the large nut loose? This is LH thread right? I used a large crescent on the nut pounded with a hammer still cant get it to break even tried putting some heat to it? Is there something i'm missing? I mangaed to un bolt the pump from the engine but i still need to get the clutch fan and pulley off for my new engine. Maybe i will have more luck putting it in a vice now but still want to be sure this is LH thread. Thanks to anyone that may be able to help me out.

try a chain vise grips around the pulley(use a length of the old belt to protect the pulley) then a long wrench on the nut and wack it good, with a BFH. 5 pounder. as far as the direction of thread some use a left an some use a right, I'm not personlly familiar enough to say

That big nut can get VERY stuck over time! I do recall it being a standard thread. Soaking it with PB Blaster or another good penetrating oil is a HUGE help.

I made my own version of the factory tool - it is basically a "pitchfork" where the legs fit around the 4 bolts on the front of the fan. If you have it out now, maybe you can clamp those bolts in a vise?

"Professionals" very frequently use an pnuematic hammer with a chisel bit. Set the chisel near the peak of the hex and hammer at an angle. Makes a mess of the nut, of course, but will break them loose very quickly.
