Question 79 ford bench seat

1. What years and or models can I get a bench seat for my 79 F-150 4x4 and be able to just unbolt mine and bolt in a different seat.

2. Also still look'n for more info on removeing and replacing wiper motor.

3. Info on replacing the dash gauges, etc.

Thanks, Paul

I used the extra rear seat from my 89 crew cab as it was still new from not being used. I did have to use the 79 track as the front bolt holes were at a different location. I then shimmed the front up about an inch, but that is how i do all of them, may not need to for others. I was lucky that the seat was the right color and new. I used the crew cab rear area to hual tools in for my work, If I ever sell it I will need another seat for my 79. EDIT.........There are some split seats that fit, I'm interested in hearing about them too.

I've read on this forum that any bench seat (including splits) from an F-series or E-series up to 1996 will fit in 1973-1979 trucks. Just bolt the new(er) seat to the frame rails out of the '73-'79 truck and drive off.

Yep any seats from an F-series up to 96. It's just that easy, I did it last weekend. I got a seat with fold down arm rest and power lumbar support from a 93 F150 XLT. I just took my seat out and put my tracks on the new seat and put it in.

Pic are at the bottom of page 81 of this thread

You will need a torx head socket to unscrew the seat belt hold down screws to get them through the seat though.

I thought they might since the 89 rear seat fit so well, i was not sure on the years that would fit. I guess i better look for one, i may want to sell my 89 since i don't use it anymore and the buyer might want the seat put back in.

What about the 3 piece set up from a 96 f150 with the middle jump seat? It looks different underneath from what I can see online.

I am also looking for a replacement for my 79

Thanks

I put in a 96 seat with the fold down arm rest, and love it.
I just swapped the seat brackets and bolted it right in.

I think it may be even simpler than described above. I understand that any bench from '65 to '96 (and '97 HD)will bolt in, including split-back (Supercab seats). However, be aware that the dimensions of the actual seat - not mounts - will differ from year to year because the cab got larger through the years. Don't know about the three-piece seat. I want one too.

I have been lookin for the answer to this for a while now. I do know 73-96 and 97 hd seats will fit, but I've been told the gen 6 and gen 5 seats won't fit?

I am not 100% certain but I do believe there were a few 98HD's (F250/F350) as well. The 1999 super duty model was introduced early in 98 essentially replacing this model year. In any case its not significant and don't feel like getting into a pissing contest about it whether I am right or wrong but assuming I am right, there may be a few extra trucks out there of this year to get seats out of.
