Leveling kit and 35"s????

There have been some articles on here lately about less lift more tires. I want to run 35 X 12.5 tires but I don't want a huge lift. I dont mind doing some fender trimming as long as it is just a little. Is this possible? What do some of your rigs look like?

I would like to maybe run at the leveling kit height. So 2" lift in front and no lift in the back. Thoughts??????

I don't think you will get away with this without some major rubbing in the front. I have 4" and I get some very slight rub if I have the wheel turned just right and I articulate just right. It rubs on the back of the front fender.

I also think it will rub. I am only running 285's (33's) with my leveling kit and I get rub on the leaf spring. You will have to get some wheels that have a positive offset and still probably have to do a lot of trimming. Your turning radius will most likely suffer quite a bit.

Ya I don't get any rub on the leafs. I do not know what the offset is on my wheels but it must have more than stock.

My current set up I don't have any wheel rub on the leafs so I have some offset. I am just wondering how low I can go and get 35" under there. Even if it takes a little trimming. Trimming just the front or front and back?

thats what i run, yeah it rubs a lil but all i really had to cut was the bumper. I did aftermarket springs (vs: add a leaf, front drop shackel) the only time it rubs in in turns on the inner fender now that i cut the lower corner of the bumper.

I ran 315/75/16 on mine with just an add a leaf. I'm not sure how those compare the 12.5'' wide, but I had no issues with the tires rubbing. If I had the wheel at full lock and on rough ground it would touch the spring, but nothing serious. The add a leaf brought mine up a little less than 2'' than it was with the stock springs.

me too no problems really...i hve a set of bfg's 35"x12.5"x16.5 the bottom corner of my bumper is trimed my rims are 16.5x9.75 with just a superlifts leveling kit. no issues at all w/ the rear tires. i don't think it would work with oem rims. too wide of tires and the offset is'nt right. i think theres some pics in my gallery/garge.

I only have a leveling kit on my truck. Here it is with 315/75R16 (35x12.50). I only rub the leafs at full wheel lock. I didn't have to trim anything and I dont rub the body anywhere, but I don't see a lot of serious offrading either.

I run 315/75R16 (were General Grabber AT2's and are now Wrangler Duratrac's) with a leveling kit (2" add a leaf) from I think it was Rough Country. I had to trim my front valance slightly and I have my the inner corners of my inner fenders pulled back (if that makes sense) I do rub from time to time when the turning with the suspension flexing. You get used to it and adjust your driving accordingly. The PO was runnin the same size tire without the leveling kit and rubbed holes through the inner fenders. I am running aftermarket wheels, not sure if that makes a difference

With PO's tires and no level

With level and AT2's

i'd say that the backspacing could be the difference between rubbing and clearing. I'd love to have some bigger rubber under my truck (285/75/16 on stock alloys now) but I definitely don't want to do 4 inch lift to get it.

btw- rpenterics...that's one sharp truck! the 'before' pic reminds me of my truck with that rake.
