Ford F250 Trailer Brake Controller

I couldn't find this specific topic so here goes.
Ford F250 SD 2005 crew cab FX4 lariat. bought used. Trailer brake controller comes on when i bump the dash, hit a good bump or touch the lever on the front and shows trailer disconnected error. I had Ford Dealer look at it and they said that it seemed to be a loose connection and they cleaned all connections in back of controller and tightened everything. Seemed to work for a week or so. slowly the problem is cropping back in. I haven't towed a trailer yet, so it can't be the wiring. I have seen where there have been other people with problems with this message, but they all relate to the trailer. A new controller OEM is 340. Screw that. Any suggestions?
