Chipping chrome door handles

On my 2007 Expedition Limited the “chrome” on the door handles and on the drink holders is starting to peel away. It looks terrible and I really do not think it should be peeling after three years. Unfortunately it is not covered on the extended warranty (ESP $100.00 deductable) I purchased. Any suggestions or is there a TSB out there for this issue?

No, no tsb's that I know of. Just crap workmanship. Most chromed plastic has become really poor. The only option other than replace the parts, is to sand off the chrome and paint it to match the car.

that could look really nice. I'd try the paint idea.

there are a few interior dress up sellers on eBay...might have something that would look nice

I had a couple of my door handles replaced under the 12k warranty, and the front grill for rust spots. I live in Arizona, and never see snow or salt.

Nice affordable repair to an inferior problem. Note that Ebay item is a cover, not replacement handles, which should make the installation even easier

Yeah, and don't think that over time, that won't chip too. The only way to make a good long lasting chrome anything, is to make it out of metal.
